.....................................................................
Below are the values and goals of Garforth United JFC (including all club/team/match officials)
1 - The values and goals are:-

- To provide a positive learning environment in which children can develop their football skills.
- To ensure children of all abilities receive a fair chance.
- To ensure the children develop a love for the game of football, have fun and enjoy themselves.
- To develop the social skills of the children.
- To develop the skill of our coaches on a continual basis.

We also recognise that we have an obligation to instil in our players:-
- the need to respect the coach, the club and each other.
- the understanding that not everyone has the same level of ability.
- to always try their best.
- to respect the referee and the laws of the game.
- to respect the opposition and be both a gracious winner and a gracious loser.

The role of our coaches and all other club officials is to impart the above values and goals to the children. Their success (and our own) will be defined by the number of players who turn up to play again next year and not by the number of championships won.

Substitution Policy - To maintain our club values and ensure fairness and equality, all the boys will play an active part in all matches they attend. Over a rolling period, the time spent as substitute will be distributed as evenly as possible between the whole squad, this being handled by the Team Managers. Positional changes will be made whenever required to provide cover for absences and also to develop the awareness within the squad.
2 - Code of Conduct for All Club Officials, inc Match Officials:-

All Club Officials should help the Club maintain its values and achieve its goals. It is essential to promote to children and parents the Club Codes of Conduct at all times.

A Club Official should:-

- Set a positive example for others, particularly the players.
- Promote and develop the team having regard to the interest of the players, the Club and the reputation of the game.
- Show due respect to all match officials (referee/opposition) and others involved in the game.
- Not be afraid to make decisions.
- Be honest and impartial at all times.
- Carry Identification Cards at all appropriate times.
3 - Code of Conduct for Players:-

Fair Play and respect for all others in the game is fundamentally important.

A player should:-
- Make every effort to develop their own sporting ability.
- Give maximum effort to give their best performance during a game.
- Not use inappropriate language.
- Not spit.
- Always play fairly and respect the laws of the game.
- Accept the decisions of and respect all match officials.
- Abide by the instructions of their coach and team officials provided they do not contradict the spirit of fair play.
- Treat fellow players and opponents with respect at all times.
- Avoid violent and dangerous play.
- Accept success and failure, victory and defeat with good grace.
- Have respect for the kit and equipment provided for their use by the club.
- Ensure that when representing the team and/or wearing team clothing their behaviour is of the highest standard.
- Ensure that socks are pulled up over shin-pads and shirts tucked into shorts during a game.
- Arrive on time for matches and training sessions.
4 - Code of Conduct for Parents & Spectators

Parents/Spectators should always help the Club maintain its values and achieve its goals. Parents/spectators have a great influence on children's enjoyment and success in football and should encourage Fair Play and high standards of behaviour at all times.

A parent/spectator should:-
- Encourage the children to play by the rules.
- Applaud the opposition.
- Avoid unnecessary coaching of the children during a game.
- Refrain from negative shouting and screaming or taunting.
- Always respect the referee's decision.
- Be positive and encouraging to all the children not just their own.
- Recognise the value and importance of all those who give their time to help the players.
- Not enter the field of play at any time during matches.
- Assist the players to arrive on time for matches and training sessions.
- Advise the Team Managers of any player's medical conditions.
- Let the Secretary know of likely absences as soon as possible.
5 - Complaints /Grievance Procedure

It is accepted that the running of a Junior Football Club will not be without incident. In the event of complaints regarding any Official of Garforth United JFC, the procedure outlined in the Club's Constitution and Rules should be followed. Essentially, we would like any issues to be resolved informally without disruption to the children. In the unlikely event that matters remains unresolved, the Club Secretary will provide guidance on procedures.
6 - Child Protection Policy

The club follows all matters contained in the FA Child Protection Procedures and Practices Handbook, which places a very clear responsibility on Clubs to ensure that they safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.

Our Club policy is to inform all Managers and parents about these responsibilities and to enable everyone to have clear understanding of how they are to be carried out.

Garforth United JFC have a designated Club Welfare Officer with responsibility for child protection matters. The club will ensure that all Managers are the subjects of stringent risk assessments including checks via the Criminal Records Bureau and will provide training as appropriate, to ensure that skills and expertise are up to date.
